If you were to ask me or Jeremy what our favorite thing we did on vacation was, we would both say renting the bikes! Who knew that pulling 30 pounds behind you in a trailer for 30 miles could be so much fun! It really was though, the girls love being pulled in their little trailers and rode pretty peacefully for most of the way, and Jeremy and I were able to talk and enjoy the fresh air and scenery on the bike trail. We decided that as soon as we are able, we want to invest in good bikes so we can make this a regular habit for our family. We made a lot of fun memories to laugh about on our bike trip too! First of all, the bike trail was advertised as a bike trail with lots of little towns with really good food and places to stop along the way. So we said, "that sounds fun, we can ride about 8 or 10 miles and stop at a cool little town to eat and then ride back. Sounds great, huh? Well, it is a great idea except at mile 10 I said "Jeremy, I really think this is the place where we get off to eat, and he said "No Way, there is nothing here (and it really didn't look like there was..) So, we kept riding. Finally at mile 14 my blood sugar was getting low and we were running out of snacks, the girls were getting hungry and it was two hours before dark..not good. So, we found the number for the restaurant on our map and called. Yep, mile 10 was the place we were supposed to stop. So, back we went-riding as fast as we could-even though we were all getting weak and tired! We finally made it back to the landmark where we were supposed to stop for "dinner". We turned onto this country road and came to a red light (the only red light in the town) and asked a gentleman sitting on his front porch where the restaurants were. He said, the restaurant was right there, pointing as he told us..and sure enough, there it was a tiny little cement building with a blinking light that was supposed to read "Country Diner", even though it was missing half of its letters! It didn't look promising, but what were we to do. We had to eat, and it had to be super quick, because it was going to be dark very soon! So, we parked our bikes outside and walked in. The little bell above the door rang as we walked in, and every customer in the tiny little room turned to stare as we walked in. We were strangers in the town!! When we sat down we saw the sign above the cash register that said "Cash only" and we knew we might be in trouble, since in our attempt to pack light, we brought our visa with a little cash. Looking at the menu, we knew the only way we could get enough to eat, was to share the all you can eat pancakes! So, thats what we did, tapping our feet hoping the one worker who was waitress, assistant cook, and cashier all by herself would have these pancakes out in a jiffy so we could make it back before dark. We literally crammed down some pancakes, hopped back on our bikes, and rode as fast as we could the ten miles back to our place. Jeremy had it calculated that to get back by dark that we had to make one mile every 6 minutes. So, every mile, I would look at my watch and shout out our progress, and we would adjust our speed accordingly! We did make it back, right as it was getting dark, and we made memories that will last a lifetime!
Just starting out...still very energetic at this point!

there is another version of the story, and more details to show you why Jeremy would say mile 10 wasn't the place. He still has the map to prove it.
